Controller Class

Every three months, or every Calendar Quarter, Shorty holds a “Controller Class” to instruct members how to use and control the WIN System.  Controller Classes are held on the third Saturday of the first month of every Quarter.  That means they are held on the third Saturday of January, April, July and October.  They are held at Shorty’s house in Vista.

The Controller Class begins at 9:00 AM and runs through 1:00 PM.  It is an intense four hours of instruction.  Coffee, Orange Juice,  Danish and Fruit are provided (as well as the famous “infamous” Blueberry Muffins).  Afterwards, Shorty usually takes those who have an interest to a WIN System repeater site, to see first hand what a repeater looks like, and how it operates.

At the Controller Class Shorty usually discusses an extra topic of interest to System members.  He will also answer any technical or operational questions you may have about the WIN System, or radio in general, at the class.  Attendance usually ranges from 10 to 30 folks.  The Controller Class is attended by many repeat attendees, as the subject matter is constantly changing on the WIN System, as we add more and more goodies to the System.
